Defensive Pistol Training
Build real handgun skill on a private 400-acre range near St. George and Cedar City. Fundamentals to defensive application — small classes, certified instructors, and terrain that lets you move.
// Our approach
Skill you can prove, not just own.
Owning a handgun is not the same as being able to use it under stress. Defensive pistol closes that gap. You will drill grip, stance, sight picture, and trigger control until they are automatic, then build toward drawing from concealment, reloads, malfunction clearing, and shooting on the move.
Because we train on 400 acres instead of a fixed lane, you can actually work angles, use cover, and move — the parts of defensive shooting a public range will never let you practice.

// Who teaches it
Coaches who have carried the skill for real.
Your instructors come from Naval Special Warfare, the Marine Corps, and law enforcement, and hold instructor and Chief Range Safety Officer certifications. That background shows up as patience and precision on the line — practical coaching over theory.

Defensive Pistol FAQ.
Do I need experience to take defensive pistol?
No. The curriculum starts with the fundamentals — grip, stance, sight picture, trigger control, and safe manipulation — and scales to drawing from concealment and moving under pressure. Instructors meet you at your level.
Is this different from a concealed carry permit class?
Yes. The Utah CFP class is about the law and your permit; defensive pistol is about skill — actually shooting, moving, and manipulating the gun under realistic conditions. Many people take both.
What ages can train?
Most pistol training is open to ages 12 and up with a parent, so families can build safe, competent habits together. We confirm specifics when you register.
What should I bring?
A reliable handgun and holster, ammunition, eye and ear protection, and a way to carry spare magazines. Loaner gear is available for many classes — just ask when you book.
How big are the classes?
Small — max 12 — so individual coaching is the default. Training runs on the range at FOB Gunslinger near Cedar City.
